Yes you need to add a dechlorinator, usually referred to as a water conditioner.

I am helping (atleast trying to) this site to establish a library of information/guides/whatever for beginners that wonder across this site.

yeah i was bored and the site was empty, so i thought why not... it will help others. I think I did the questions so i didnt look too cocky by just posting random info.

so, any particular dechlorinator? how about pH adjusters? baking soda? Salt?

PH adjusters can be a bad thing to use. If your PH is close to the range the fish need and is stable its better than messing with it and having an unstable PH.
I use aqueon water conditioner. Not sure if its a well rated one... But it was on sale ;)
