| Turn the lights off for and hour then get your net ready and turn the lights on, you will have 5-15 minutes before they fully wake up and start running away. |

| They take much longer to react when they are half asleep Now if you go in there with a red light they tend to not wake up till you catch em. |

| When you have an 8 foot long tank you have to get inventive. I have even made a stand alone divider net to drop in the middle of the tank so I only have 4 feet of tank to deal with. |

| My Labeotropheus f. know the drill, drain the tank whilest removing the hidy holes and decor then the youngsters always try to hide in the moved gravel where decor was and the adults after all the times they've been threw it just hang at one end or the other.
but last time had a couple youngsters that were really JERKS!! so had to get out the handy dandy egg crate temp divider to catch them.
Turning the lights off worked a few times but they are way onto me now. | |

| I made my divider net. I made 2 T's with 1/4" PVC the long part was to the height of the tank and I got some heavy duty netting from a craft store and cut it to the width of the tank and stitched it around the PVC. I set it in the middle of the tank and move it towards the fish I want to catch so that they really get cornered. I can post a pic if you like? I'm sure it could use some modification but all in all it works quite well. |
