First topic message reminder :

ok so i finally got start (Restart) on my 20L mini reef:)
all i have is some water and a cpl powerheads runing right now cuz all i have in their is Live rock and some sand.

right now im not planning on using my 70 MH just becauze i dont have any corals in the tank yet.
equipment:
-20L AGA tank
-30" t5HO (stock bulbs)
-K nano for water movement- and another random powerhead
-( not on yet) penguin 200 bio wheel filter without the bio wheel
-HOB fuge

- Live stock:
-10lbs of LR
IDK how many lbs of LS i need more though! lol
as for fish.....
nothing yet waiting for water to cycle a lil more before adding fish and a clean up crew
-Future Live stock:
-pair of occilarus clowns
-Mandarin Dragonet
-MAYBE!!!!!! just MAYBE a baby tang!!! blue hippo or yellow at 1"! imma change my 100g into a SW tank so hell have a home when he gets bigger!

Corals:
-any coral i can get my hands on!! and that can stay under 70W MH's

: Inverts im goint to get / want
cleaner shrimp
-maybe a sexy shrimp
-Maxima Clam

lol i know bout the filtering!!
i was thinkin bout having a 2" sandbed!!!!
i plan on having a goby and i want him to burrow under rocks and stuff lol

If you are gonna do only a 2 inch, you might want to do some research on that. B4 i started my SW tank every credible site would warn against the deadzone. Just here to help. U dont want something as simple as sand to make your levels go bonkers.

Honestly, I started with a bare bottom, then that got boring! So I added about an inch of crushed coral, and that was "ok" for a while, but the fish hated it. So this weekend, I broke the tank down and added about 4 inches of 90% sand 10% crushed coral, and no bull, it made the tank look a whole lot better. The fish are happy! and The Crabs are more active. If you are gonna do 1.5, you might as well stay at 1. 1 will help the tank, 1.5 will hurt it.

sand just makes things look Way better!!!
is your SW tank reef or FOWLR?

That's another thing, I started with a FOWLR, but I felt sorry for my Clown fish (they were sleeping on the gravel) so I upgraded lights (thanx to Luis) and bought an anemone. So now it is turning into a Reef tank!
