| I bought a gorgeous sailfin tang back in February. Being new to the marine aquarium hobby I did not quarantine her. She was the only fish in the tank at the time. She (her name is sailor) came down with Ich fast and furious about a week later. I set up a quarantine tank then and put her in it. I then treated the tank and left her in there for 6 long weeks(which I learned is the life cycle of ich). She was on the brink of death in the quarantine tank. She got red streaks on her face and her fins got all chewed up. It was awful. I finally got to release her into the big tank. I was so happy and so was she. Well, about two weeks ago she started acting weird. She showed no visible signs of being sick. She just started hiding behind all the rock and wouldn't eat. Three days later while I was away, she died. I am still sad. I don't know what happened to her. All the other fish are fine. I only have in my tank now a yellow tail damsel, a blue devil damsel, two green chromis and a firefish goby. | |

| Citygirl I'm so sorry. What size is the tank? Damsels can be quite the bullies did you notice if they were stressing her in anyway? It sounds like it's stress related. |

| with Vixen, usually ich treatment does not take so long to cure, it has to do something regarding stress, sorry about your loss. | |

| fisrt off since we are talking about a tang here,....what size is your tank?? if your goin to keep a tang of any kind i think the smallest tank a tang can be in is bout 5'!! and thats just so its not stressed! they are real open swimmers and like their space!!!! i can see why it would be stressed if it was in a 20 or 30g! tangs are REAL ick magnets and have to be watched all the time for ick! damsels are the worlds biggest lil jerks and also can be a reasone why ur tang died!! do you do weekly water changes to your tank?? | |
