| Someone just gave me 2 beef hearts. Does anyone know the best way to prepare it for fish? Do you boil it and grind it up? do you dry it out? do you grind it raw? I have no clue. Any suggestions welcomed. |

| well, when i used to have my Piranhas, i sliced the beefheart in very thin slices and fed the fish these slithers of beefheart! Also i used to cut them up in 1/2in cubes. At time i also, would grind up the beefheart, and mix with chopped beans, carrots, etc and spread on cookie sheet, semi freeze and slice into 1/2 cubes, etc. i fed it raw, but my fish liked it raw... | |

| I would say toss it. Most fish don't do well with land animal meat, it gives them all kinds of intestinal issues. I always stick with meat that lived in the water. Fish like their meat raw. |

| raw shrimps, scallops, crab, fish and veggis blended up and put small amounts in a Ziploc bag and squish flat and freeze, oh and some garlic (intestinal health) and spirulina (helps color and well being) but everything raw, the veggi to meat ratio will depend on the fish you are making it for. Most all veggis are fine and any water critter is fine. Pretty much whats on sale |

| When I had alot of discus would cut the beef heart into workable size pieces, put it thru one of those old fashioned meat grinders. Then once I had all that done would add all the rest of the goodies and freeze it in packages that I could feed off for 2 days. | |

| Raw & Rinsed, Rough chopp it and then use a food processor or blendor. Pour it into ice cube trays freeze, then re-package. For baby food- blend more for adults just mince it.

| I belong to a local forum there is a guy there that breeds and keeps discus and angels, He prepares his own and swears buy it. he uses beef heart, 2 multi vitamins crushed, some kind of saltwater fish, and shrimp, a can if spinach, 1 bottle of tropical fish granules, three cloves of garlic, and a box of gelatine I will type it for you.
trim the beef heart up get off all fat and the inside stuff off, cut it to small chunks, Cut the S/W fish into chunks, Add raw Shrimp, 2 multivitamins(crush them), now open that can of Spinach get all water out, add fish food, garlic. (mix all in a large bowl) mix up gelatin in a pourable bowl, run it all through a food processor, when you think you are done process it some more, then put it in freezer bags, flat so that you can get air out and break pieces of of it easily, then freeze thaw it before you feed break pieces off to feed.
This is a recipe that i got from another guy and I take no credit for it, but i feed it to my angels and turtles, they love it and thrive, so i hope it helps. |

| 1 beef heart, well trimmed, cut into cubes equal amount of raw shrimp 4 cloves of fresh garlic, finely minced 1 small can spinach- drained 1 jar baby food banana 1 spirulina capsule, sprinkled over mixture 1 B-complex vitamin crushed and sprinkled over mixture 1 packet of Knox gelatin
I use a hand-grinder and grind the heart twice. Next grind the whiting and mix in with heart. Mix in garlic and run through grinder again. Add banana, spirulina, and vitamin and mix very well. Make up Knox with hot water according to package directions. Let cool. Add just enough Knox to have a smooth mixture, not soupy! Spread out between wax paper to desired thickness and freeze. Break apart and keep in zipper freezer bags.
This is what I always use. I do add other things like dried krill, left over flake powder when I have them.
this is Txrednecks basic recipe and all my fish eat it up | |
