anyone ever heard about getting lateral line disease from having a faulty pump or something that was sending an electrical current in your tank?

Never heard of that, and I wouldn't think it would cause a disease. I can't imagine a fish would do to well for a long time under these conditions, but without being grounded it may not make a difference.

50 fathoms, I had an old peacock that i took out of my big tank about six months ago just sitting in a smaller tank. I needed to make room for some small ruby red's i picked up so i brought him in. He had two lines going down one side and that is what the dude told me. said i needed a grounding probe or something. then when i researched it, i found that a grounding probe would make matters worse. Then i thought i was seeing lines on all my fish but a friend came over and told me i was crazy.
