clowns got ich

my clowns were acting a little funny last night and one look just bad, i woke up this morning and he was still hanging in there. so i went to petsmart and got some stuff and set up a quarantine tank for my fish. and after 3 hours of being in the tank with some copper they allready look 50% better i hope my clowns make it, ill be devastated if they die.... heres the best pic i could get

ps. i pulled all my rock yesterday to redo it, in the process of that my wrasse was hidding in a little hole lol he was out of water for about 3 mins and he is NOT doing good. his tail and head are beat up from flopping around in the rock :( these are the last of my saltwater fish and id like for them to not die lol

If the fish is not with coral, I'd use a copper base medication for ich.
Just make sure to dip him before adding back to his home.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in a cleaner wrasse too(just a thought).

Please tell me you treating the fish with no inverts or corals in the tank !!!

does copper base meds get rid of it faster or something??? i have never got to use them since i have verts in my tank

copper kills invertabrates hence no more ich, but it could also kill fish if its to concentrated

Not sure if it's faster, but it's more effective as far as getting rid of ich.

The best way to use it is in a 10-20 gallon bare bottom tank with just
the affected fish.

You will also get a lot of die off on your live rock. That's why I say use a bare bottom QT.

I hear it damages coral and anemones too.

all 3 of my fish have ick so there all in my 10 gal i dont think my sixline wrasse is gonna make it due to the fact that i think hes a little retarded being out of water for a couple of minutes

If it makes you feel better, It happened to me with the first 2 salt tanks started.

Fish died a few days after I purchased them. No fish lasted 2 weeks except inverts.

The only place back then that had salt water fish in New Jersey was pet heaven.
Not sure if it was the health of the fish from that store or me not being as knowledgeable as I should have been.

well i know what people say about copper and inverts but just for the record i dont belive it, i set up a 10 gallon qt tank when i got my regal and i was curious about teh statements, well i just happen to have a tiny bta at the time froma split (size of a quarter) and i stuck it in the qt tank. well i dosed with cupramine for 1 week with the nem in the tank and it did just fine. i wouldnt do it in a full display unless it was absolutely necessary but i think it could technically be done.

again this was a one time trial and at the time my trates were off the chart due to a mean @$$ed fire clown killing stuff. btu i had not issiues with that bta, it grew and split again a couple months later and i got rid of one clone and my clowns beat the other one to death LOL.

yelp. It'll kill them if not treated fast and right.
Most fish don't even eat when infected.
Can you purchase a cleaner wrasse?

do they have black and white striped bodies? if so, yes my lfs has them

Yes, BUT when it gets to that point if you treat aggressively (while still following the directions) you can save your fish. I know sw ich may be different but thats the point my Arowana was at and he is still alive and kickin lol.

im down to one clown and i will be SERIOUSLY surprised if my wrasse makes it threw the morning... out of all my fish this is the one that i like the most, he was the only one that would eat out of my fingers, i fell like i just lost a friend

tim just relax man, what you need to do is put a uv steriliser on your tank and run the water through it at a slow flow rate, it will kill the parasite in the water. also if you have any fish that are not in sushi heaven qt them at once and i mean all of them.

yeah it sucks. tim might be prepared next time to avoid the same problem
