Posts : 3 Location : Twin Falls, Idaho Favorite Fish: : Cichlids of all sorts--Africans , Central, South American and New World. Used to have 40 tanks back in the 80's. Now I am apartment bound and only have 6. Largest is 60H that started out as my main Bolivian Ram tank....but you know......had to add 'dither fish'. That should be spelled 'OTHER FISH'. So....... you know the drill ......
Apistogrammas......proflic little critters.
Have a Fluval Edge Aquarium that is planted with my Alpha Betta, Shrimp and Threadfin Rainbowfish as occupants. Added more light to the setup of course.
2nd planted tank is cycling now (fishless) for my Apistogramma Eunotus clan. They will also share with the dainty little threadfins.

| Little bit of SEA WORLD here in San Marcos. 6 fish tanks, siphon hoses, cichlids, threadfin rainbowfish, cherry red shrimp.....albino plecos, etc. Senility has for sure set in. This is what happens when a horse breeder 'retires'. Gotta keep breeding something !!!
Back in the 1980's I was president of the South Dakota Aquarium Society. 40 tanks full of primarily African cichlids. Had Jack Wattley's Discus spawn for me in hard water. Got them to the wriggler stage. Largest fish was a HUGE pacu in my 500 gallon tank (floor supports for sure).
Anyhow.....YEARS later, here I am.......having fun again.
Tried doing the planted tank thing back in the 80's with no success (doing it all wrong). Now, with the internet (turned on my first computer in 1983), I have discovered fishless cycling and CO2 systems. I am a DIY kind of gal......yeast bombs, etc.
I am happy to be here...............

| Working western Arabians. Old bloodlines pre-1960's. Cutting, reining, sporthorse, working hunter, working cow horse, endurance, dressage...... Most folks have never seen them. QH folks like them when they see them. I bred cattle before I bred horses. Farm girl, farm wife, ranch wife. Breeding livestock is fascinating....so is breeding fish. However, I just wanted to keep my Apistos happy.....and alive in this liquid rock....not expecting them to be THIS happy. Multiple spawns from 3 pairs of Apistogrammas in community tanks. Mamas herding their little ones like sheep on a hillside. Holy TERROR to anyone even looking at her kids. She is a little 1- 1/2 inch long yellow striped torpedo. | |

| i had a lovely surprise this PM.... My Bolivian Rams spawned in my 60H community tank. The apistogramma eunotus pair rule usually, but this young pair found a spot to dig a pit in the black Tahitian Sand and spawned. 7 spawns now total with 3 different pairs of dwarf cichlids. The little ones even survive my heavy water changes.
Glad to find more fishy folks........thanks for the warm welcomes !! | |
