| First question. Can I use sand that I buy from Leslies pools supply - I used this sand for my African tank and it was great. I will buy new fresh sand for the salt tank, but want to make sure i can use that sand or if it has to be special sand.
Sec question. Can anyone help me convert a 55g aquarium into a sump ref. I will give you a 55g tank for the help.
Also any noob advice would be great my plan and set up is below.
I have 160g seamless tank non drilled. I have to get and overflow to sump device. Will convert 55g in to sump ref and then use an overflow. Will need protein skimmer and aif flow devices ect. Have a great light set up allready. My plan is to buy lace rock as a base and then get some live rock to seed the base rock there will be down time because i am going to take my time building up the rock. I dont want to spend 8lb a pound so i will do it the slow way. After I have the rock seeded I plan on doing a reef and fish aquarium.
Advise and help is needed. | |

| I have sand figured out and for a start you dont need live sand it will become live with time. Crushed pavestone is the way to go or any sand that will fizz when put in a cup of vinger. If it fizzes it is calcium based and prefred. Some people use HD play sand. | |

sorry nitty but i myself as well as MANY others use pavestone brand pulverised limestone with great success, it is oolitic maenign is is sugar fine grain and great for your sand sifters. tanya has seen my 90 which has the pavestone pulverised limestone in it, the 110 is also going to have pavestone in it. |
