Yo-Yo loach YoYo%20Loach%20(C)

Common name: Pakistan loach, Yo-Yo loach (referring to pattern).
Scientific name: Botia almorhae
Synonyms: Formerly known as B. lohachata
Size: Usually around 4" (10cm), but can get larger.
Origin: India and Bangladesh
Tank setup: Planted tank, preferably with sand substrate.
Compatibility: Usually fine for the community, although occasionally aggressive, so more timid companions or those with long fins are best avoided.
Temperature: 24-28oC (75-82oF)
Water chemistry: Fairly soft, slightly acidic (pH 6-7).
Feeding: Omnivorous and will take most aquarium foods, feed a varied diet.
Sexing: No immediately obvious differences, though a few minor differences have been suggested (see Loaches Online).
Breeding: No reports of aquarium breeding.
Comments: This fish is often sold for its ability to reduce snail poulations in the community tank, because like many loaches, it will include snails in its diet. The markings on these fish can be quite variable. They are best kept as a group and can be kept with other peaceful loach species.
