Angel fish 690297 Hi people. Got a question. I have two koi angels plus six discus nd cardinal tetras. All of a sudden my male angel got very aggressive with the discus. Found they have spawned on a sword leaf with about 59 eggs. Is that the reason for the agression. They have taken over half of the tank. Can you tell me how long it takes to hatch and will the agression stop after.

Yes on the agression. Thats a very small spawn. Eggs will hatch in 48 hrs. Will become free swimming in a week. Alot depends on your tempature in the aquarium. Also is your soft or hard. If soft fry will hang from leaf. If hard they will drop. Parents will do a good job of raising fry. The agression will continue.

They will more then likely eventually get eaten. Those are great snack foods for other fish. If you are wanting to keep them you will need to set up a fry tank and I would move the eggs over to it now with a bubble stone in it. The parents will start laying eggs about every two weeks now.

Most people over agitate the water with the eggs. All you need is a bubble rising to the top that you can see thur. Yes really slow. Eggs face down. If angels are feed the right food you can get a spawn every 7 days. That also means you are removing the eggs. Most angels spawn in the morning. Depending on the number of spawns for that day. That determined what I put the spawn in. One spawn and I put into a gallon jar. More spawns and I used a 5 gallon bucket. I only put like spawns together. Also collected rain water and put eggs into rain water. I used slate for spawns. Slate was 3" x 12". Breeders always had live black worms in feeder.
