20 gal high - 6 choprae danio, cycling, mostly done
10 gal quarantine - 1 turquoise, 1 macie and 2 dwarf Rainbows, 3 black kuhli loarches quarantine from a tank that had gotten sick; will go into my community tetra tank and the 20 high when all is confirmed to be ok.
Have set up my 20 gal long for an oranda goldfish; she'd be in there now if the store hadn't dropped her and now we don't know if she'll make it....look to put two orandas in my 40 breeder when I get it set up!
Also looking at getting a 27 gal cube and stand on sale and Petsmart but don't know where I'd put it!

| My Oranda has been acting poorly and I just noticed that parts of her wen (very large, covering her whole head) at the back seems to have been removed. I thought it was her wen changing color but I read a post somewhere about how some Orandas or goldfish will bite at and eat another's wen. This individual called them headhunters and said they are more or less incorrigible.
One of the new baby goldfish had started swimming very close to her and I'm wondering if he might have been nipping at her wen. I moved both babies back to their 20 gal long tank; the one does not do anything to the other; they have been inseparable since I got them.
If so, should I start her on an antibiotic? I have both API tetracycline and erythromycin. They both mention being good for sores; the tetracycline says it clears both internal and external infections. | |

| After a couple of days alone in the tank and with a little ammo-lock each day - and a diet of peas, she seems to have become unblocked and is back to her normal self. I may try putting one fish in there eventually, but I think she uses the entire space and wants it all - no little fish in there competing for the food on the sand; no little fish snuffling around in the sand that she (Penelope) wants to snuffle in. I guess she's a diva! So glad to see her back. Now the question is, what a bout the two little ones. They liked the big tank better! But they are ok in their current tank for the time being. Now my concern is that if I want to house them together I'll need at least a 75....aagh.... | |
