| First topic message reminder :
I came home to all the fish in my 55g hiding. i was like hmm..so i tested the PH it was below 5.0 did a 50% water change..today fish are still hiding my jacks were black now there pale..and i don't know what to do | |

| What's up.. Ph go down if you let it sit too long, or if there is alot of build up in the filters and all....
I'm just me, but, I wouldnt do a water change to 'raise' the ph... I'd get the ph right using an alkaline buffer, Seachem is what my fish like...:) Just bump up the ph to correct.....so thats when you do your water changes to flush all the residue in the tank, and it wont randomly change any levels... you'll see your fish get 'exited'... -peace JT.........

| Haven't had time to get on here much lately. Glad that I missed the recent spat. But I didn't see anyone recommending to buffer the tank against future spikes until this recent post. I always put a buffer in my tanks. Add a little with each water change for maximum buffering. This will allow the water to resist changes in pH. BTW the light color of your dark JDs are caused by burn. They'll return to normal after a few days to a week of stabilized pH. | |
