Another little show and tell!

I got an unexpected email last weekend. A very long time ago I had contacted someone looking to part with a nanochromis pair. After I sent the email I never heard back from them and assumed they were gone.

Well come to find out they were in fact still around. The guy sent me an email and asked if I still had room for them since he would be taking them to the pet store later that day! By the time I read the email and gave him a call he was on the way to the pet store! Lucky I was in time for these two.
He was very nice and looked around in the fish room and then told me if I wanted the fish they were mine. He gave me the two fish and a large box full of sword plants on driftwood! I was in shock when he opened the box and showed me that. I actually rescaped my planted tank to in cooperate these new plants they looked so good(pictures to come on that!)

This is my first time dealing with the Nanochromis species but they are a really neat fish. Have a very unique look and behavior is pretty amusing. The guy believed they were Nanochromis Nudiceps but after some research I found out that these appear to be Nanochromis Parilus. This is mainly due to the fact that the upper portion of the caudal fin has the horizontal yellow and black markings and a true Nudicep would not.

Now what everyone is looking for anyways... the pictures!

Nanochromis Parilus pair! Enjoy

Very good-looking pair! Do I see a little diamond tetra in that second pic? Let me know when you are ready to part with a few! *lol*

Thanks!

I have over twenty of them. One of these times I will have to bring you a few of them.

Maybe at the next meeting! *lol*

You were right to do the research on the Nanochromis pair. Strikingthematch Nanochromis 393849 Apparently, it's pretty common to confuse N. nudiceps and N. parilus.

That it is and I also found that if you search for N nudiceps most of the pictures in the google search are actually for parilus and if you click on the links they say this is a picture of parilus and nudiceps don't have those markings haha.

If all goes well I can bring some diamond tetra to the next meeting. I have too many at this point lol.

I saw some of those N. parilus. at a LFS yesterday . The owner could not remember what they were . Said a local breeder brought them in and GAVE them to him , as he could not find any buyers !!! LFS is not really true as he is about 1.5 hours from me .

Haha they are some really nice fish and seem to have a great temperament. They get very pretty if the light catches them. A have heard that they look better under low light setups because high light tend to make them appear 'washed out'
