I am a major noobie. I have been like a sponge & attempted to soak up all the information I can find especially concerning keeping peacocks & haps. I was wondering what would be a good reference book for a starter? I have am a nurse so I understand some scientific and advanced information but there are so many books out there I don't know which one to start with. I have explored the internet but like to make frequent referrals back & sometimes books are just better. Thanks for the help. I have learned a tremendous amount from this site. Oh, by the way, love, love, love the humor and teasing between people!!!

Any of the books by Ad Konings would be a good start.

The cichlid pictorial guide by pablo tepoot (two editions) is a good visual reference guide with arguably the best photography in a cichlid reference book. There is little to no information of use about the actual fish but if you want large clear photos of what the fish look like when mature, it can't be beat. BTW...this book and the books by ad konings never come cheap.

Good reference books never come cheap. I'll look for those books too. A book with picture reference combined with fish care sounds like a winning combo. I like to have refernce books instead of looking up info on the internet. Thanks for the recommendation.
