Good luck on selling them for 80 bucks. Large koi are hard to sell because fewer people can handle them.

I find in this hobby making money isnt the best thing to look at. It should be about the passion for the hobby. I did try to make money off the hobby and I did but it took away from the fun I have when I just watch and breed fish. Also you know how cold it gets here in hampton roads during the winter. You would have to tub them through the cold months in your house or set up that big ol' thing in side. 800 gallon tank where did you see this?

Koi stay in ponds outdoors year round here in PA. But I have never seen a koi for sale for $3-4. More like $8-9.

Just have to make the pond deep enough that it won't freeze solid and the fish will most likely live.

Koi continue to change coloration as they grow older and mature. Genetics, water quality and food quality has a lot to due with how they will ultimately turn out. With the time and money that you need to grow Koi to a large size (1500+ Gallons), you would be investing more than you are getting out of it. Its not easy to make a profit raising koi....
