| Anybody familiar with FH? I've been doing this business for a while, but have never dealt with FH recently had someone who specializes in them offer to sell one for a really reasonable price, and thinking about dropping him in my 125. 125 currently hosts 4 Fronts, a flagtail, two datnoids, and an arowana. Anybody know if these are good mates, for it, of is the FH probably going to dominate all of them? | |

| It's a Male.. aprox. 7 inches... The guy said it's a little too aggressive towards, his other FH that he has in the tank which is approx. the same size.. however the other FH he has in the tank is a Male as well. | |

| Thats a good question. I have a male FH around 11" and he is very passive and has done well in my african tanks for months at a time. He has done well in a mixed south american tank for a while as well. Madmax has the meanist killingest fish i have ever seen besides maybe a male auratus. She is a 6-7 inch female FH and wow. From what i have seen about these hybrids is that they have a huge range in personality. If the guy is trying to price it low just to get it off his hands... its probably a total handful and needs a solitary lifestyle...... just a thought | |

| You make a very valid point, about him wanting to get it off his hands... I've had past conversations with him, and he mixes and breeds a wide variety of FH and has explained to me a couple of times that he is trying to come up with combinations of FH that sell for $800+ a piece like some of the FH on Aquabid.com... So I think this particular FH that he has that he's willing to sell and get rid of has become a low end FH to him. | |

| Well... wasn't trying to start a debate about Hybrids... lets save that for another discussion... He's not a hybrid by the way... I'll post a pic of him later, I ended up buying him... He's was the king of my tank within 2 minutes of putting him in there... I'm a little nervous... but at least I know I can re-sell him for more then I bought him for, if I needed to. | |

| blah... blah... blah... Everything in life is a cross breed... Your a cross breed... I'm a cross breed... your cats and dogs are a cross breed... Most of the trees that we see are a cross pollination of other trees... I'm guessing you guys hate the carbon dioxide they release as well... Were all a mix of evertyhing... of a million types, of ancestry... However that has nothing to do with what the topic was about... Please stick to the topic unless you want other people coming in and saying nonsense... when you have questions... this is how forums get a bad wrap not a good one... because word of mouth always spreads faster when it's bad then when its good... | |

| flowerhorns are aggressive fish-be very careful.I had one in my 200g when it was small with frontosas. As it got larger,it picked on smaller peacocks mostly.I wouldn't do it again.I like my fronts too much.try one in a 55,by himself? good luck! | |

| i am not saying anything bad about flowerhorns my thing is that you said it was not a hybrid if you dont beleive me just read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowerhorn it says red devil cichlids (typically Amphilophus labiatus) and trimac cichlids (Amphilophus trimaculatus) are in the foundation of the flowerhorn so isnt that a hybrid??? | |

NO CLASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No class I beg to differ....He asked for an opinion on where to put his flowerhorn, I game him my opinion. If he doesn't like it, then I'm sure he won't put it there! Well... lets see here. I guess it all depends on how you want to classify a hybrid... the way you are classifying a hybrid would make you a hybrid because you come from a mix of ancestry and all sorts of different genes and DNA which would mean that you A. Don't like yourself... or B. Would prefer to throw yourself on the floor... or C. All of the above... If you want to get technical a FH comes from the same Animal Phylum as every other fish... excluding worms, and some ocean life... Therefore it any breeding done between any fish would only make it in the same phylum, and natural which would mean its the same as every other fish and wouldn't fall under another animal phylum... It's like saying a black person and a white person having a kid should be classified as something else according to you... So I'll take option C of you don't truly like yourself, and want to throw yourself on the floor.... Ignorance is truly bliss my friend... which makes you truly ignorant, and very blissful about it... So go back to caring for feeder guppies for my fish... and when your ready to talk with the big boys you can come back my friend...

| Well well how productive this has been... I truly hope no one In the future clicks on this thread when they have the same question looking for answers from people who "know". I came to this forum for knowledge experience and love for the hobby..... not bashing people who have different views and likes....hate is bred from ignorance.....hate is for the ignorant...... this thread should be deleted after the first page... truly sorry I had to warch this after giving advise to a fellow hobbyist.. | |

I couldn't agree more... The sad thing is I had to specifically say multiple times this thread wasn't about hybrids it was about a question from one hobbyist to some others about advise... If I have foolish illogical things to say that have nothing to do with the thread then I don't say them... Anyhow thanks for your logical input and sticking with the thread question, it was helpful.
