| there are so many options,
one of my rock bass got mouth fungus somehow, and a few others are showing signs of ich, I have them quarantined as best as I can.
If I need to, I'll use a copper based medicine that is hard core, but Im not putting that in my main tanks...
I currently am using melafix in the main tanks to keep it a bay, but I might need to bring in some bigger guns as they aren't showing much improvements after 5 of 7 days.
any advice would be appreciated. I don't have very much experience with diseases

| I use quick cure for ich. Also turn the temp up in the tank. | |

| If you want to try coppersafe for ich it works amazingly. I had very sensitive fish like neons and loaches and half dosing the coppersafe and slightly raising the salinity worked great. Problem is that you are in texas and when i was living there we had a high amount of copper in the tap water but this was in Houston. So just be careful. A quick salt dip will help get rid of the fungus...done correctly the salt dips work fantastically! I believe the correct solution is 1/2 cup salt to 5 gallons of water. Leave the fish in for 30 secs to 2 mins. Basically when the fish stops actively swimming and starting to float is when you want to pull them out. Ive used this technique with koi and other fish that have open wounds and ulcers and mouth or fin rot several times. It will raise the fish's slime coat so your water may become foamy for a short time. | |

| so do you guys think that ich is always in the water until the fish becomes wounded or stressed, or it comes in on a foreign object and can infect perfectly healthy fish | |
