| I've been to most/all of the lps's around the Arlington/Grand Prairie/Mansfield area. What do you guys think of them? I like going to Pet-O-Rama but the aquarium "specialist" had a grudge on me since High School so I don't visit there often. I've been to the TranquilScape aquarium? off of cooper because I knew the owner but unfortunantely, he had to close his shop down. I've been to Petland right by the new stadium and a freaking parrot bit my finger, so I don't go there anymore, and last but not least, I have NOT visited AquaticWonderland off of Division. Has anyone from the general Tarrant County area been there? They have some decent prices on some blood parrot cichlids.
http://www.aquaticwonderland.com/16.html
Does anyone know of anymore lps, or a CHEAP place to get some cichlids? I saw some parrot cichlids at Wal-Mart for $8 and they looked healthier compared to the other dead/iched fishes. I don't like PetCo/PetSmart because prices are waaaay too high except for sales, and it is normally the cheap guppies or tetras. Other than those sales, there was one for plecos ($5 for 5).
Again, I procrastinate, but any place to get cheap cichlids?

| I'd say for the most part they are all over priced. I sall Demasoni at Pet-O-rama yesterday for $30.00 about 2.5". The best actual store to go to would be Pet Land off of 30 and Collins. The owner loves Cichlids so most of there tanks are that. Prices are not bad for LFS price. My house is going to be the hot spot again once I get my stock back up from moving. | |

| The green parrot at PetLand bit me and ever since I went back he keeps screaming at me. But yeah they do have some great cichlids. | |

| I live in Palmer and the closest LPS to me is Pet-A-Rama in Waxahachie. They sell "assorted" cichlids for 20 bucks. Sometimes they'll have a few others like tropheus, but always want way too much for them.
I usually only go there to look when I have my 11yr old with me.

I bet Pet Village in Duncanville would have some.I go there sometimes and trade stuff with the owner. He's got some good fish at a decent price.
I just got two Red Peacocks from him and they look great.

| Don't shoot for "cheap fish". Do some research, think/plan what you wanna do. You have access to a BUNCH of aquatic specialists. Dont be afraid to ask questions, cause I am pretty sure you can get answers. You will be a lot happier in the end I promise. And you have access to quite a few fish freaks/breeders/sellers in your area (right?). If I lived that close to these people I would need a fish store. The trick to fish stores is to know what your looking at and/or want. OK I am done rambling... | |

| Thank you Jack, You saved me from my rant Research is the key to a happy tank. Nothing can be kept in the same tank with a flowerhorn. You even have to breed them through dividers. |

| Aquatic Wonderland seemed pretty good as far as prices go. And I like how they seem to specialize in Flowerhorns (though I don't think I'll ever bother to raise them). Definately the best place in town I've seem for prices on Discus and will be the place I think I will go to get them start when I eventually deciede to.
Keller Farms in Haltom City (Outside of Fort Worth) isn't so bad. They don't have the most wonderful selection always, but they DO have many sizes of each type of fish they do have. Was ticked off the last time I drove all the way over. I had called asking for Kribs and they said they had them. When I got their all they had was 3 males. Since I was looking for 3 males and 3 females I wasn't to happy overall. Then again, it might have been good to pick them up and snag the females elesewhere to make sure they weren't siblings.
Note that the owners (I believe they are) are not very personable and seem to believe everyone knows nothing.

| Customer service makes all the difference though. That is why I don't ever go to PetSmart or PetCo anymore. They either don't know what they are talking about, or are very rude. Even on the phone, I bought a plant not knowing it was full of parasites and it died that same day. Called them and they said too bad, do a water change on a dead plant and hope the parasites die with it.
I like Aquatic Wonderland because the owner is Vietnamese like me so sometimes he will give me a hookup. Yeah always ask a pet store what they have/how many/ price/ and size. Customer service is numero uno for me!

| The Aquatic Wonderland guy seemed pretty nuetral to me. He did, however, offer a discount on cash rather than credit so that was cool. We only bought a Black Ghost Knife from him, but it is possible we will be spending a good deal more later and that could be a real savings! | |
