| I wasnt sure what I wanted to have in my tank. At first I wanted unique fish, with no real ideas. After visiting a fish store we found, and seeing the many different types of platys they had, I think Im going to stick with them. Im gonna get more plants in my tank, and start buying all these different platys. Males and females. Then, hopefully, they will keep our tank stocked indefinitely. It would be interesting to see the combinations that pop up. | |

| Platys are some amazing fish. I know so many people use them to cycle and it always amazes me how well they do! With enough of them in the tank they will quickly multiply and some of the color combos are really amazing. Good luck with the fish! | |

| I saw some really pretty ones. In a few weeks we are going to buy some. I want a good mix. Kinda waitin on the floaty plants I bought from some one on here to arrive first. My tank needs some more time to stabilize and Im hoping the floaty plants will help that process.
I also want to give the babies a fighting chance (tho Im not going to actively save any)

Comes in a rainbow of colors as well!! I will look into those too. I kinda like the live bearers, lol. Its like a game to look in the tank and see if we can find any babies. If I notice a female suddenly thinner, I start searching, lol. No babies will survive right now, tho. I dont have nearly enough plants or hidey places for them. Im also not opposed to guppies and mollies. Oh, and can platys interbreed with the variatus? I know they can with swordtails (but I dont think they can with guppies and mollies, if I remember correctly)

I kinda am. Which is odd for me. I prefer Oscars, Cichlids, and the oddball fish. Platys are so......plain. But the colors I saw at that fish store. OMG. I was like a kid in a candy store, lol. So, can anyone give me some ideas for what to put in my tank. As in hidey hole type things. I have a moss ball and a plant that looks to me like romaine lettuce kinda. I have some Indian fern that is supposed to be coming my way soon. As far as decorations, I have a dragon, an army guy (aquarium decoration, not the plastic army guy, lol) and an asian pagoda type thing. I want to stick with an asiany kinda theme (not for the plants, but for the decorations). Would bamboo halves be appropriate? Or would the babies not hide there much?
