I hear it's hard...but there lies the challenge. I'll keep my fingers crossed. They have at least a 1-2 years to mature before they start spawning for me though.

L134 are a Peckoltia Species . breeding is not too difficult in soft water . Acid pH value at 5.5 to 6.5 They like clean , clear water with a flow. Maturity usually takes about 2 years ! Good Luck , and enjoy your beautiful fishes . Ray

I am not a fan of playing with water softeners, RO and chemicals. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=213

Can you please tell me what book you are referring to? I might email admin at Planet Catfish and see if they got their facts incorrectly. This is what Planet catfish has ---> pH 6.0 - 7.4.

| Breeding one species of Pleco does not mean you can easily breed all of them. I have spawned L46, L260, L66, L270, L399, L333 Porto Do Moz and all available Ancistrus type succesfully and got FRY from them. For some reason these L134s are proving to be a challenge. Ingo's book might be based on his experience and I do believe they would spawn with lower PH. My hope is to have them adapt and spawn without altering water parameters off my tap. You have a Pekoltia sp. that spawned in high PH water so hopefully one day my L134s will do the deed

| Great looking fish! Those are the type of fish that add the little something extra to a tank. | |
