and this time I tried to see if it had already been asked (Im just coming out with to many snail questions lately!!! ok, another snail question 196631 )
I have my BHM betta in a 2 gal tank at work with (what I believe is) moneywart and a bamboo. The substrate is river rock, no larger than dime-size (some are half that size). There is an airpump going with an undergravel filter, here is the same style aquarium I have set up (mine just does not have a light which is fine since it sits infront of a window) ok, another snail question Ppets-10

My question is, what type of snail would go in this setup, and how many should be in there? I think having something that would eat any algea that would possibly start growing (and I know that even though I have plants in there to try and keep that from happening, and the window does not stay open all day; but algea is an inevitable thing) would be a good idea... $$$

You could go with two smaller olive nerite snails - or a single mystery/apple snail. I have one snail in each of my 'betta cubicles' that average 1.3G. They do very well, and give some male bettas the excitement of 'challenging the moving rock game'.

I wouldn't do the nerite but instead just stick with the Brigg.

Just my .02 worth.

The Briggs is a good choice . Also the nerite would be a good choice . And if you can get one or more in your area , a Spixi is a good , medium sized apple snail. I have Spixi in a lot of my tanks , and nerites in a couple . Both do great jobs as Algae control specialists !

ok, I know what an apple snail looks like, but have not heard of a spixi or brigg (other than a military brigg). I have heard y'all talk about nerites, just have not seen one (guess I need to do some googling after work today!). Thank y'all for your input.... As of right now the only snail experience I have is watching land snails after it rains and then the two type of snail who hitch-hiked on some plants I got and are multiplying in my shrimp tank (one type is a neat clear looking one). Time to crack open some books, lol.

I have lots of the buggers . I am not allowed to ship them across state lines . I can sell them instate , it's just illegal to ship them. Thats the way it is in Michigan anyways .
