Very nice tank. To be honest I looked into DIY lighting and there are so many options it is mind numbing haha. If it is going to be freshwater then a compact fluorescent or t-5 fluorescent bulbs.

If you go to Home Depot you can get cheap light setups there be it a pre made one OR the ballast and other parts of the light. To be honest though when you compare the cost of ballast/wiring/bulbs/the fixture to some of the cheaper type pre made brands the price is in favor of the pre mades...

I got one from

Aqua trader

I know I know such a bad stigma of these fixtures and everything but I have two 4 lamp t-5 and they work great! They are clearly not the most expensive construction in the world and nothing compared to the top brands but then again I paid $200 for 400watts of light...

thinking i am gonna go with already made ones, however I have found some hook ups for t5s that arent that expensive, may go that route just have to wait and see.

I love doing stuff my self but when it came to lights I simply gave up. I looked at all these options and figured that when I took the money in to account and seeing as I would have to buy all the parts for it that a ready made one was the way to go not to mention that I can get some type of warranty haha.

If the tank wont have live plants just get some shop lights from home depot and screw them up in there.

Moorii blue dolphins
angel's
tropheous
fronts

any of your larger open water cichlids would look spiffy in there.
