duck weed for aquariums

anyone want it??? some of my fish love it but its taking over! I have been told its the same as the outside pond stuff but I gave a bunch to a friend for his pond and it all died within 2 days outside. a lil bit will expand to huge a mounts in no time. I have noticed it is keeping the nitrites and nitrates down in the tanks where it is not being eatin so it is good for something other than food. can put a lot in a bubble envelope so shipping would be low.

Well depending on how much you got I would happily take some off your hands I got a 20Gal tank that I would really like to grow that out in :) As KMX said if ya got a paypal I would happily pay shipping

I have a ton of it, its about 2" thick in my 265 and a 10 gallon just chocked full of it. cant imagine it would cost much to ship but will c sometime over the weekend some of the ways to package it up to keep as low as possible.

In a wet/damp paper towel , in a baggie sealed with tape , and then in a Bubble wrap manilla envelope, First class postage should be less than $2 , $3 max.
Priority in a small ( 7x7 box ) would / should be under $5

I would love some for my shunbunkins. I have a 5 gallon that I could use to grow it until I need it. I have 2 bubble stones in the corners of an 80 gallon. I'm sure my fish would eat it before it had a chance to reproduce, don't you think? I mean shubunkins are always wanting food.

It goes bonkers in the two planted tanks - not so much in my non-planted tanks. Probably the fact I use special bulbs over the plants and regular cheap white florescents over the others.

I have a couple other science teachers who have unlit 'goldfish' tanks - that when they spotted the duckweed, they begged for it. So every 10 days I clean off the duckweed which is covering almost 100% of the water surface - bring it down to 10% coverage. Their goldfish enjoy it (considering these fish don't get feed over breaks/weekends - it's good that they get the duckweed)..

10 Days later, the planted tanks are again covered by a layer of duckweed. Nitrate levels stay so low that I actually have to fertilize with a N fertilizer!
