| Well guys I you about my ob passing. Now I have another mbuna in the same tank that I think has bloat. Long stringing white pooh looking and red looking around annual fin, and is only swimming (sittin still ) in the top of the tank. Completely ignoring any food. I started the Meds yall suggested last night. I think she is past the point though. So I think tomorrow we are tearing down the whole tank and cleaning it and putting new gravel. Will this help get rid of the fungus and now what ever is causing bloat. | |

| Hmmm. Id say if your going to tear down the whole tank I would do sand not gravel. How long has the tank ben up and running and how many times do you water change? Whats the temp and did you add aquarium salt? | |

| 74? Needs to be at 84. This tank is going thru a cycle probley and you don't need to change the water at this time...you would only make it it go thru another mini cycle later with the 50% new water you just added. | |

| If you set up a tank with tap water you put the decloranator in the water, hook up a filter and let it run. Your tank must go thru a cycle process. Thats why I always use water from a tank that is already established b/c I hate waiting for a cycle to complete. Its a long boring process. | |

| Cycle is the time it takes for your beneficial bacteria to grow and be able to process your ammonia nitrites and nitrates into something less harmful.
Go get an API mater test kit and start checking your water peramiters. How long has the tank been set up? Did you add fish right away? I need you water readings once you get the test kit.
Stop the table salt it has iodine in it. Go get aquarium salt and something for internal parasites. That what the white poo is.
DO NOT tear down the tank all you will accomplish is killing the good bacteria. Leave all the tank decor alone. Fungus and ich are present in nearly all aquarium but only attack fish with weekend immune systems and/or injured fish.
You need to help us figure out why your fish are stressed enough to become susceptible to the diseases.
List everything that has occurred within the tank for the past month please. |

| Yeah you deff. need some Aquarium salt. How much table salt did you use? If it was a lot you might want to re due the whole tank. Go get some pool filter sand from home depot. $5 for 40LBS. Get some holey rock. Start from there. | |

| I have holey rock in the tank. Add the heater last night to start increasing temp. Okay I made a mistake I am sorry. Now I have learned and I will move on. Thanks for laughing with me about it. Which meds do you guys suggest for the bloat problem? Does this spread to the rest of my fish? I have google it and there are several different ideas about it spreading. | |

| I was not laughing only trying to help. I dont know what you have but a lot of things can spread. The best way to solve the problem is add aquarium salt and raise the temp
And I dont know how much you are feeding them but slow it down for a bit. Unless you only do it once a day then your ok already.

| Ive got a question for you guys though, since salt was brought up. When I got my tank, the guy had a large unopened bag of EPSON SALT, and I didnt want to talk to him after I got home. Is that the same kind of salt? Ive never heard of anybody using epson salt, and I have yet to use it so it just sits in my stand, ive been meaning to ask that. | |

| I know you were only trying to help. But once I read what you wrote I relized how silly I sounded using table salt. So I was laughing at myself. I thank all of you for your help. You guys have been great. Just so you know this isn't Bwj78666 himself. It is his wife it is his hobby but I am the researcher on the hobby. He is the looker of the hobby. LOL | |

| Good to hear from the other half You guys need to get a 10g or 20g quarantine tank asap. Separate out the sick fish It makes it so much easier to observe them that way. What foods do you feed them? Bloat is sometimes caused by live foods. |

| I my keyhole had an inflamed anus and I saves him. Did you lose the other fish? We seem to think that these fish illness are going to spread to all our fish and kill them all. It's not ture. Well with parasites it is but mainly it is the stresses fish get sick. I had a few female bettas all come down with this wired bactiral thing and they all died off slowly. They were stressed out by eachother. My other fish in the tank are fine never got sick and it has been well over a year the rest of my fish are still alive and well.
with My keyholes I did lose one but it was the weaker one that got picked on. My other one I saved and he is now a year old and doing awesome. I never took the whole tank apart. I would but them in the hospital tank and treat them also I did 90% water changes everyday for 10 days after I was done with treatments. That's how I saved my keyhole. Maracyn-Two and 1 were the only meds I found to work well. Daily water changes with those meds and I saved my fish.
The keyholes were the only ones to come down with this.
