Long time so see! My barrel pond has been set up for almost a year now! It's been doing really well, there hasnt been any fish loss or problems with algae or illness. Here are some updated pictures and a video. I LOVE my black oranda! The fish are named after the moons of Jupiter :) Black Oranda: Jupiter, Red Cap Oranda: Io, the two Red Comets: Europa & Callisto.

Nope, no liner. I had to soak the wood to get out the stuff left over from the alcohol, but I like how the look of the natural wood looks.

I had an 8' round water trough which we coated on the outside w/tar and buried it to the rim, lined the rim with rock and added a waterfall. Worked great for over 11 yrs. It had a bio ball box filter. I had koi and goldfish. Luckily it was close to the house so that I didn't get any heron action, never had probs w/ snakes or others.
