| Hey guys! I'm new here, saw an ad on craigslist about the forum and the curiosity got me! My name is Emmaleigh, most people call me Emz. I was making fun of Snooki from Jersey Shore on MTV and the nickname Snookemz was born! I have 2 wonderful children who make being a single mom not so hard :) I also have a 30 gallon planted freshwater tank that houses guppies, mollies, and platies. No, they're not fancy or expensive but I honestly love these fish! I think they're so pretty and so fun to watch! Way better (for me) than some expensive fish that I'd be a nervous wreck over! My tank is currently being rebuilt after a horrible incident. I was babysitting a little boy (2) and in the time that it took me to pee and walk back to that part of th house he had put temporary tattoos, POPTARTS!!!, and some action figures. All my snails (yes, I love snails), plants, and female fish died. My males survived the poptart bombing. That was 2 months ago and my tank is getting back to its previous glory slowly now. Word to the wise and patient, don't mail order plants in the winter unless you like trying to save frosted plant :( I was faaar too impatient to wait til spring to get my plants back! | |

| Keelo - I think you may be my fishie twin, people usually roll their eyes at what I stock in my tank! Fern - you had me at snail - I will totally hit you up on a forest when its not freezing! Shaysfishys - I'm sad that you can relate! lol although, the power rangers haven't made their entrance into the tank - but thats only because the dog usually runs off with them. hatman- hey okie! glad I'm not alone! and the whole lot of you - thanks so much for the welcome! I can't wait to dive in and learn from you guys :) I've had fish for 16ish years but a lot has been trial and error and dumb luck sadly! I've only started really learning things through research in the last 4 years and well...I had a baby in there so I didn't learn a whole lot! | |

| for sure twins :)
No one on the forum will roll their eyes about livebearers though! a lot of people on the forum keep livebearers with their other stocks. I think a lot of people have a soft spot for them ;) | |

| my friends used to call me the fish midwife because I'd seriously cancel plans if a fish was having babies - and I refuse to call them fry because I'm a big softie for all things infant - because I'm glued to the tank. I have to watch and count. I love watching those little balls of baby pop out, hit gravel and pop open into a fish. Sure, its better when they don't have to be dropped on their heads, but at least being in water softened the blow. My mom is worse than me on that one though, she tried to coach the fish and would say "look look! her tail is wiggling! SHE'S PUSHING!!!" Or "I think the fish is crowning!!!" I tried to explain how exactly this whole fish thing works and that crowning just doesn't apply...she ignored me and called me "insensitive to the new fish mother." My kids are really into the fish babies too - my son (homeschooled) is very into following their growth and making charts about their progress and developement. My own kids do NOT feed the fish poptarts - just the former daycare heathen. I sure wish I had this forum when that catastrophe happened. | |

| Glad to hear your family is so into fish! Everyone has their own favorites on fish. Here we know that and wont judge you by what you keep at all. As long as you love and care for your fish that is what counts The snails I have are pond, ramshorns, and Malaysian trumpets |
