Over the past few weeks I have seen a couple pieces of White Fecal droppings in my 40g Cichlid tank. I have been reading up on it and everyone says it suppose to look stringy, slimy or hanging from my fish. but mine looks normal (except for color) and all of my fishes are eating and acting fine. Should I go out and get a treatment for my tank or could this be related to their diet? I feed them Spirulina 20 and frozen brine shrimp once a week. I read the article on this forum that says use garlic but came across this one also

I would use a medicated food. Not garlic.

This is where I get mine

It is not diet. Spirulina 20 is one of the safest foods.
Ya go with some medicated food, its always better to get the meds directly into the fish if you can.

I would first make sure water quality is good. If necessary do water change. I try not to use any drugs except as a last resort. I would continue to observe, especially since their eating well.
Maybe skip a few feedings. I tend to wait before going into the medications.

If they were parasites wouldn't the poop look different? Stringy or something? He said the poop looks normal just white. And his water quality is good. And the "droppings" he saw were floating around in the water rather than hanging from the fish.

Is there a test for parasites?

I know my fish sometimes get clear feces after I feed them frozen brine. Is this when you are noticing it?

There may be a correlation between the frozen brine shrimp and what I am seeing. I feed frozen about once a week and that's about how often I'm seeing the white droppings. I will stop the frozen shrimp and see if it discontinues or not.

Thanks for mentioning that. And thanks everybody for your help. I will let you know what happens.
