| I am having new carpet put in and I need to temporairly move my tank out of the room for the rug layers. I was thinking of getting a 45 gal garbage can and siphoning the tank mostly into it, adding the fish, the heater( it's cold here) and the bubbler til the carpet gets layed that day. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Help! Bastet56 | |

| Be sure to lay a plastic sheet over it and the air pump due to the fumes from any glue or floating particles otherwise you should be good to go. |

| You can use just about anything plastic to put the fish in as long as it is cleaned with lots of hot water. Get a bubble maker or filter going and a heater. Get it to temp and then move them over. Use dechlorinator to help keep the stress down. | |

| When I have to move a customers tank for carpet, I drain the water in to a trash can on wheels. I leave enough water in the tank so the fish can stay upright, carry the tank where it has to go. Then using a pump or powerhead, pump the water back in to the tank. It can be done in 15 or 20 minutes and the only thing the fish notices is a new view. You can put the fish in a bucket if you need to. If you know someone with a furniture dolly, you can put the tank on it to move it. | |

| yes I asked it before but couldn't find where I put it, duh. It's a 55 gal tank, I would have to really drain it down to be able to just move it without the tank fracturing - yikes! Thanks for the thoughts folks...... bastet56 | |

| I have moved a 75g with about 4" of water and all fish still in it, if you can just slide it thats the best way to go. just move and refill it then repeat the process when you put it back. |
