hi this sisterfish here and im new was just asking bout a question and found you guys have a picture contest thats really cool i mght have to enter next contest lol but my question is plz eplain the ifits for having gravel vs barebottom

Welcome to The Fishbox. My opinion is bare bottoms are best for breeding purposes or QT . Gravel IME is better for helping filtration as beneficial bacteria will grow in it. If you go with a planted tank I prefer potting soil topped with pea gravel. It all depends on what you are using the tank for, what species and preference.

welcome, BB tanks are for breeding or q tanks. unless your raising some fish and you want really prestine conditions.

I do bare bottom on; fry and messy fish.
Everyone else has some sand.

For the most part

But if I am breeding ( African Cichlids for me) I will have sand.
