Difference between HM and a Delt Tail.

Some people get confused as to what the difference is between a HM and Delta Tail. Just thought I would try to clear it up a little for those who wondered.

A rosetail has real fluffy or to much folds in the caudal. The caudal should flare out flat.

So Purkle would be a rose tail? He has too much tail for it to flair out flat any more, its still fluffy even when he is fully flared.

No Fern. That is the confusing part if you don't happen to know the background of the fish. You got him from me and all I have are HM. As they get older they get more and more finnage. Here is a picture of an old boy over a year old and he is HM. Notice the ruffling in his caudal. Now the other thing is that there could be something in the background that is unknown. ( His dorsal got torn during breeding) When they are young they should flare out flat like my avatar boy. He was only about 5 months at the time of that picture. A rose Tail will have the heavy ruffling when young.

Yes there is a lot to know. And even more confusing when showing them. All different catagories.

I haven't gotten into his tank with a razor blade Its pretty algae coated at the moment.... I haven't found the right plant/light/nutrient balance in there yet.
