| I think they are scatter egg layers but not really sure. I've had tetra breed in my tanks but never really did anything to encourage it it just happened. |

| i have my black skirted tetras breed like crazy, first i thought it was bloat but i learned after i found a few frys in my 20 long that they are breeding. just leave them in a tank on their own and put some good gravel or sand that has plenty of plants to cover the eggs then u should find some fry. but u have to have a male and a few females. u will know if their male or females if the females get bloated wen u feed them bloodworms or brine shrimp and u will see the males since they wont be bloated. | |

| They scatter eggs and you have to have good cover for the fry because tetras for some reason love live food. | |

| I've heard to use marbles at the bottom so the eggs can get down where the adults can't get to them and when breeding is done pull all the adults

| Somewhere I read, isolate one of the pair for a day.. then at night introduce them to each other in a breeding tank and turn off the lights. In the morning get up and give them subdued lighting and watch the action for the next hour or so... It should happen in that morning session and then remove the adults. I've tried and tried to find that link again but haven't had any success... | |

| 1-2" of marbles seemed to work best with the egg scatters. My experience though was messing with white clouds since I didn't want to "buy feeders", it worked got plenty of fry though most ended up being sold for community tanks LOL
I would put a few pairs in a 10g for 48 - 72 hours then move them to a different tank, watch the tank for a couple days pretty soon if all went well you should start seeing eyelashes with eyes.
Don't know about separating them never tried, but would assume it would be similiar to danios in conditioning them for spawning. | |
