powerheads work great for most fish. i like it because it will keep the water moving it will stay alot cleaner. it makes the fish think they are in a natural envirnment. my cichlids get in front of it and try to beat the currant. i have a power head 900. it works great

Only if you direct them away from the plants. Only a few plants like flow. others will break and melt.
