PostSubject: WoW! In shock! the good kind... Go Aqueon!   WoW! In shock! the good kind... Go Aqueon! Icon_minitime10/29/2010, 3:01 pm

I have an Aqueon 55 overhang filter, which I love by the way, not only for the non-conventional look and design, but also because of that extra blue grate and blue cartridge holders that allow for much more biological filtration, and during a lightning storm here in Florida (just about daily during the summer), seems that the motor blew! affraid

So I searched the internet for a replacement, knowing well in advance that it would probably cost as much as the entire filter itself, but couldn't find one. H E L P !!

I was ready to post the filter for sale as is for about $10, thinking I probably would never sell it. Then I thought, might as well just throw it out and forget all about it. Rolling Eyes

So last resort was to call the company directly and ask if they sell the motor or know where I can purchase one. I managed to call afterhours several times, and leave messages but never heard back.

Today I call during business hours, leave a vm, and get a call right back. She patches me through to customer service.

The customer service representative proceeds to tell me, "we don't sell anything directly here, but you have a lifetime warantee on these products so i'll go ahead and drop an extra motor in the mail for you right now!" rock on

Mind you, she didn't ask me for proof of purchase, receipt, how long i've had it, or proof that I even did own one! lol!

Just so happens I received this when purchasing a complete aquarium from someone, and it had already been used for several years! funny

So she immediately gets my name and address, and says it will be in the mail today, and I will receive it Monday or Tuesday! rock on2

and I had just finished buying extra new filter pads and more media for it before it blew! cheers

Now I have a practically new filter for nothing!!! chicken dance

Go Aqueon! Very impressed! good

thanks, yeah she was very nice... even showed concern for my fish... told me to try to get another filter or atleast extra circulation in the tank somehow until the unit arrives!

I was shocked... don't experience something like that everyday!

Aqueon seems to be a good company...read another post about someone with a leaking seam and Aqueon sent them out sealant.

These testamonials have encouraged me to take another look at their products.

SO, after a few days I did receive the replacement motor, swapped out the impela, and now the filter is working again.

However, there is a tiny gap in the area where the motor connects to the filter.

I tried running it and water was leaking and/or spraying out of this area.

I know plumbers tape, which is basically like rubber ribbon, no adhesive, would be perfect for this, but I do not have any, and am trying to think of something else I could use instead.

As I was writing this I thought a thick rubberband would be perfect.

Any other ideas?

I recently resealed a 40g breeder and a 65 tall and they will be going on the same iron stand (same footprint) and one will be using this, so i'd like to get it going soon.

The 40 breeder dried for 2 days, then lay full for a day with no leaks, so that one is getting filled up today. The 65 is still in that process and will be setup by Wednesday.

Thanks

Scratch that...

a lightbulb went off in my head and I checked and did find a tiny gap where a rubber gasket would fit.

Checked the old pump and there it was... removed and put on new pump, installed, good as new... cheers

just one of those days... Rolling Eyes im stupid
