| I'm setting up a corner tank and don't want to use a HOB filter. If I use a 660 powerhead with a sponge on it, should that keep things clean enough? I'll be doing plants and a some little guys...(maybe neons and some shrimp) | |

| Is it a naturally planted tank? It should be okay. What I do is have a spare HOB that if it needs it I can put it on the tank for a couple of hours just to cleans the water. I only vacuum the bottom once every 6 months the mulm helps fertilized the plants and the snails keep it clean. In your case the shrimp will help keep it clean. I do stir it up for water changes to get excess cleaned up. |

| Ok. Set up the tank last night. Put in about an inch of Flourite and a nice layer of sand. I don't have any plants yet, so I'll be looking out for a nice package to come along (or I could just wait until my other tank is ready for a trimming.) I'm still not sure about livestock? Suggestions? I'm thinking either a couple of angels (what would be good tank mates?) or a shrimp and neon tank? It's only a 30 gallon, so I'm somewhat limited. | |

| I find that people on the forms will give you the best value in plants and they ship well. Just look in the sale items or place a wanted ad and you will get responses. I have also placed ads in my local craigslist for plants and have received free or very cheap cutting and plants. I usually like to put angels in no smaller than a 55 just my opinion from experience. If you want cichlids do kribensis with a couple of schools of tetras. Just be sure to have caves for the kribs. I make the caves from terra cotta peices as the color goes well amongst the plants. I myself am always looking for more plants with 8 tanks I can always use more plants. I even love the snails that hitch a ride. |

| Here's what the tank looks like. I'm still moving the wood around to figure out where I want it. I need some plants to really bring this thing to life. :) | |
