| Hey all, Ty for any help given. I was wondering, since I want to run a FOWLR tank with the starter fish list that nitty gave me (Surgeonfish (tangs) Rabbitfish Clowns/Damsels must smaller Wrasse Anthias Hawkfish Dottybacks Blennies Gobies) Do I need to have any circulation pumps, like Koralias? If so, do I need a wave maker too? Also, I definitely want at least 1 clown or a mated pair of percs.. Should I or could I put a anemone in a FOWLR tank for them? Thanks guys. Pmonck | |

| You will def need some circulation pumps mainly to keep a healthy tank and to prevent dead spots (which will cause a massive algae bloom). You can put a anemone in a FOWLR, but you need the proper lighting. Most FOWLRs dont have the proper lighting (hence the reason for being a FOWLR ) But if you are gonna invest the money into the proper lighting, you might as well plan for corals and stuff. | |

| Cool, thanks jhawk, I do plan on going to reef and that is why I am starting out with reef safe fish, but before I put a reef together I want to get the hang of taking care of the fish's needs first. Also, is a wavemaker really necessary? And as far as my lighting goes, I have a coralife setup with a pc 10000 96watt and a acnitic 96watt w/ 2 little LED moon lights. Thanks, pmonck | |

| I dont have a wavemaker in mine. I actually cut a lot of corners for my SW tank to pretty much prove a point to people that you dont need super expensive and top of the line equipment (but that's just me! lol) I have 3 powerheads and that's it. And you have gr8 lighting as long as its not a 300g. | |

| lol I wish I could have a 300 gal in my second floor apt but I think it would crash through the floor after being filled up. I'm probably pushing it with my 55 gal. Also is the placement of the powerheads a big thing? | |

| You want to minimize the deadspots as much as possible. I have one in the lower left corner, which is about a medium flow rated, one in the right upper, which is a beast. And one in the top. | |

| Okay, awesome. Also when I feel that I'm up to doing a reef, can I use my wet/dry filter? Or do I have to use a refugium? cuz if I can use my wet/dry that would make things incredibly easy and I wouldn't have to do muchif any changes to my system because of the fish choices I'm likely going to make. | |

| I would. My theory (which hasnt failed me now) if whatever you have is keeping the water clean and the fish happy, then go with what works | |

| Awesome! I was afraid that I'd have to go through all the trouble of doing a filter change I'll most likely end up with a reef when I'm done with this tank.. Then it will be off to find another one! | |

| Naaaah, I havent seen it necessary. I figured out a way to just use my Canister filters instead of a sump (I dont like all that plumbing and a dirty tank in the house) | |

| Hehehe good thinking! This is my first SW tank and I'm really excited, I know I'm probably gonna make mistakes but I'm excited regardless. I can't wait to get it in it's spot and start it up! Do you have any pics of your tank? I'd love to see it | |
