Ok who done it?

My male white top hara has a chunk missing from his side! Who done it?

Tank 120g
stock; breeding colony of Copadichromis conophoros (3"-4"ish)
pair Paralabidochromis chromogynos "Zue Island" (2.5"ish)
pair white top haras (3"ish)
one black calvus (3.5"ish)
one bn pleco (2"ish)
2 synodontis ocellifer cats (3"ish & 5"ish)
one male red top lawanda (2.5"ish)

I almost want to blame the calvus. The wound is the wrong shape for me to want to blame the cats.

Thats a big calvus u got i wish mine would grow faster

Ok any guesses? He is the only one with any damage, not even any fins nipped on anyone else.....

What size is the female? It's not common but I've of heard females tearing the male apart.

I agree with you as inclined to think the calvus but you will never know until you see an attack.

Another Mbuna...Thats the only thing that would mess around with another Mbuna. They are tuff sukers!

I dont think the calvus would, I have relatives of yours Jill & mine havent bothered anything else. I have had them in with leleupi, moorii, & currently w my gibbs. I would lean torwards the mbuna.

i have my black and white calvus in my 100g!! theyre the most peacefull fish out of the 30 somthin i have crammed in the 100g!!! lol even though they have no fear of anyone in the tank they are very peaacfull! i also have Mbuna in the tank! they go after everything that moves pretty much!! alwats nipping at eachother and others!! theyre the most active in the tank!

they are all females, i only got one male which is a rusty, i got 3 johanni females and the male kenyi

The only fighting I have seen is when the sub dom Copadichromis conophoros challenges the dom and those 2 get nasty, other than that all I have seen is the usual chasing.

Well its the larger ocellifer cat! I just watched them go at it, fighting over a cave.
I added more rock so we will see how it goes. If the ocellifer keeps it up hes going into the 240g with the mooriis.
