New here, I got 1 red eared slider turtle as a pet. He is about 1 year old, and hes very smart. He reconizes me when I come in the room by swimming frantically. The funniest thing about him is he doesnt do that to anyone else. Who knew a turtle could be so smart?

He was the size of a nickel when I got him, now hes the size of a coffee cup. He just bought him a new filter, a cascating waterfall, dual filter. Its for a 55+ gallon tank but hes only in a 10 gallon...can you say over kill!

Anyways, thats about it, hes my first "aquatic" pet and its been interesting to see him grow!

My wife loves turtles. I am pretty sure we will be getting one soon. Do you plan on any fish soon? Share some pics of the turtle if you would like.

"Her" name is Shelly (haha) just guessing its a girl...

I am shopping around for a larger tank, as I have a cascating waterfall for a 55 gallon, and shes in a 10 LOL...But those can be so expensive!

I wish I could add fish to her set up, but I was told by many people they will pick at the fins of fish or flat out eat them!

Has anyone had good experience adding fish to an aquarium with a turtle?

Put a wanted ad in craigslist in your area for a larger tank sometimes people give them away or sell them very cheaply. Where do you live? Most people I know with turtle use like cheap guppies so the turtle can be himself and eat them.

Yep, been keeping my eye out for one on CraigsList. I live near Amarillo, Texas. =)

Im too chicken to put an ad saying I want something, dont want wierdos contacting me...lol!

They have an annonamous email system so you only get emails from craigslist. They do not give out your email address.
