| i9 have a 210 gallon freshwater tank with about 30-40 africans in it and a 12 inch common pleco and some rainbow sharks at the moment i am running a cascade 1200 canister filter and the new fluval fx5 (which is extremely powerful) it does do the job but having to clean the filter media more often then i thought i would have to any suggestion like run more filtration or what i thought about running three fx5's on it for two reasons on is for super filtration and the other is for i like the current it causes | |

| as i am sure you know most cichlids do not like to swim against a constant follow like a river so if you avoid that you can not over filter the water. | |

people actually have a life, be patient and your question will be answered. the more filtration the better, there is no such thing as too much, you can get to the point where it is to much circulation and the fish getting blown all over. | |

| I would add more filtration as well. I have a 240g and tanks that size need massive amounts of filtration, I built a 4'x8'x1.5' planted sump for mine When your fish are getting blown by the current that's the only time to do less filtration. |

| http://www.usafishbox.org/diy-do-it-yourself-projects-f11/240g-tank-and-sump-the-redneck-way-t2173.htm There is my 240g with sump from start to finish! Well I have to rethink and redo the pump box.... I stole the basic idea from salt water refugiums, using plants to suck up all of the excess nutrients. That tank is the most balanced tank I have! |
