| I'm sorry to tell you that you have been conned. What you see there is the result of mixing the Sirenius Odeus Fableus with the Lorelii Germanicii, (a german strain seen in the Rhine Valley). Although like many hybrids, they are pretty to look at, but unlike most hybrids, they are frustrating as hell when it comes to trying to breed. As observed by the others, they are expensive to keep, as they are carnivorous, feeding generally on the male deer, other wise known as a Buck. It takes many bucks to try and keep these content. As for their environment, studies have shown that they need a fast moving environment, with lots of fresh air. The most successful air filtration systems have found to be made in Europe, and are both expensive to purchase, expensive to maintain (with frequent media servicing being required) and expensive to run. Should you be determined to try and keep one or more of these, then both the Porsche as a budget system and Ferrarri as a high quality system should be considered. As for their tank. As you can imagine they need a lot of space. Don't be fooled by their size. Where as the Biped version id often very content with 2000Sq Ft of tank, this one will require a minimum of at least 5,000 Sq Ft. And ornamentation and decoration of the tank is also expensive, generally it requires that you contract a professional tank maintenance company, as they are worse than Oscars for leaving a mess behind them. Daily visits may be required. In addition to the in-door tank, it is advisable that you provide a large freshwater external tank (with an additional maintenance contract, and it seems a young handsome tanking engineer), this will require heating or chilling dependent upon the season. Also a small hospital(ity) tank will be required. This will need to be maintained at a higher temperature throughout the year, and will require a very powerful aeration system. Unlike many freshwater species this one also requires frequent exposure to salt water, but only in peaceful and quiet sunny places. Although it may seems strange, the activity of the basking and minor submersions in salt water is actually exhausting for this species. And you will be required to provide both frequent feeds of small tempting titbits, and also have to ensure she doesn't dehydrate. This being an exotic, the food and drinks will be exotic....and expensive. In summing up, I would suggest that it's better to leave these to roam wild. They have been known to be content when matched with the Hughinii Heffnerius and the Donaldii Trumpius, but otherwise they tend to become agitated and will then shoal to the Divorcii Legalium. The result of this is worse than Ick, it's called Anusium Fornicatum. A debilitating condition that will leave you with nothing more than a Nano tank, a Kia Filtration system and a drained food resource.
On the good note though! At least you never had to set up breeder tanks, as if you had, you would have had to continue to look after them long after she had jumped your tank! | |
