| I rescued some fish the other day they were slowly wasting away. I got 2 5" uaru with fin rot and bad HITH. Then I got a 2.5" buffalo aka block head a funny African cichlid. He also has hith and almost no tail. His mate I found dead in the tank when I moved stuff to try and catch this guy. Half the fish body floated to the top :( Anyone keep buffalo heads and have any info I should know? I'm thinking once my uaru are healed I might turn the 20gal into a tank just for him and a mate. I need to get a photo of him but here are the uaru so you can get an idea of how bad off these fish were. | |

| To breed these little guys(buffalo heads) are very easy to breed. keep 6 or more in a tank by themselves and when they pair off, remove the others and watch the fun. They make great parents and protect their fry. Small caves made with slate is the best. The next time they seem to be a little skiddish, do a 50% water and add a teaspoon of salt for every 10 gallons. Use only pickling salt or epsom. Make sure to check that there is no additives!!! Then in three days, do another water change of 20% and watch them if they are back to their usual selves. When they start breeding for you, get prepared for all the fry you will get!!!!! | |
