Compessiceps are a neat fish, bred them back in the late 80's. Amazing that such a fierce looking fish will hold all those babies in her mouth for a month. They get pretty big and have large spawns. Males are really sharp at 8-9 inches.

BOTH MAL AND FEMALE ARE STILL AT ABOUT 4 TO 4.5 INCHES. THEY STILL DISPLAY NICE COLOR.

They are a piscivore (fish eater) so any live food would be good. I always feed them Tetra cichlid sticks because I had so many large fish then. That stuff made them grow like crazy. I even crushed it for all my fry. It is still made but I think it is called something different. Bought it in a 6# can back then.

I feed my eye biter NLS 3mm sinking pellets, and 4.5mm floating pellets, and he loves it. Also pieces of market shrimp every now and then as a treat.
