PostSubject: new tanks   new tanks Icon_minitime3/1/2010, 3:16 pm

So hopefully by the end of the month i will have my hand on 2 more 55's and a 50 gallon tank, I currently have an empty 55 and a 29 gallon tank with brevis and juli ornatus that i want to move to a 55 and add to the community, then redo the 29

now that i finally have a job, the project should be starting in the near future
my goal is to create a 3 piece 126x12 inch stand. two pieces will be 48x12 for 2 of the 55's and the third middle piece will be 30x12 for the 29

each tank will be end to end with the 29 in the middle. since the 29 is shorter top to bottom, i plan to make the stand for the 29 a few inches taller so that the top trim of all three tanks is even, and use a thick piece of molding to make sure it still cover the bottom trim of the 29

this unit will span all but 6-7 inches of one of my dining room walls, so the goal is to make this look like one nice cohesive unit, should be a nice dining room show piece.

one 55 will contain:
1m/4f Cynotilapia sp. 'Mbamba' Mpanga Rocks
new tanks Cynotilapia%20sp%20Mbamba%20Mpanga%20Rocks

1m/4f Labidochromis sp. 'Perlmutt'
new tanks Labido_sp_pearlmutt

1m/4f Iodotropheus sprengerae 'Rusty'
new tanks Iodotropheus%20sprengerae

I think this will make for an interesting mbuna tank
The middle 29, while very risky, will consist of
1m/4f Cynotilapia afra Cobue
new tanks Cynotilapia%20afra%20Cobwe

and the second 55 will be a tang community with (to start)
6 Julidochromis ornatus
new tanks Julidochromis%20ornatus%20Congo

4 Lamprologus brevis

12-14 Cyprichromis ( not sure which yet)

and either some xenos, or a single goby, haven't decided

The 50 gallon tank will most likely be another single species cynotilapia breeding tank
and i have yet to come up with an idea for the 3rd 55. both of these tank will most likely be kept in the spare bedroom.

any comments? suggestion?

Well done in your plans.. and yes those fish are awesome. I know you are anxious for those new tanks and your stand setup.
