Custom Stands and Canopies

I have a carpenter that makes them local here in Arlington.

Let me ask What do you all think is a reasonable price for a custom 55 gallon stand and canopy?

Just want to get a feel on what people want to pay.

I wouldn't pay anything more then $100 for both.

ive seen pos stand at petco for more then 100. he could prolly get 250-300 for stand and canopie

I think that he could get around 300... Depending on type of wood.

I myself think the color makes it look home made and would not spend more than $100 for both pieces. I'm sure he would customize it though with different trim and a nice varnish it would be really unique. If he advertises a unique stand he will get more business and get quite a bit more for them. Maybe with dental molding or something just a little different.

he is not selling them at a retail store so i think it would be hard to get $300 for them but they do look nice!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I like the stand just not the blue color. Being hand made it can be customized to any color I'm sure. I know it sounds tacky but i would like to have one in a dusty pink for my 55 in the bedroom. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

custom stuff isn't cheap... I have a friend who does this for a living and told me it would be $125.00 a foot. but he makes them look real nice....

I like it myself. But you should be surprised at how much custom stands cost

I design and build furniture also. price depends on a lot of factors such as type of wood, how its skinned, hardware, and trim. I saw someone say they wouldn't pay over a hundred for hood and stand lmaorof. Be realistic, check the price of lumber now days and what do you think the craftsmans time is worth? Labor alone won't be less than 75. When buying a stand look at material used, many lfs sell them and their made out of mdf which is worthless.

if its oak, then i have no prob. paying 200. to 400. bucks. i do alot of wood work myself and i know its not cheap.
