| My convicts mated and in the process of defending his young the male got pretty beat up. I know we should have seperated them but we didnt know they had eggs and we were out of town when they hatched. Now the male is swimming with his nose facing the bottom and his tail straight up. He spends most of him time lying on his side if he isnt swimming. However when I feed everybody he swims right to his food and eats. He has been this way for about a week. Any suggestions? | |

| By the time we got back all the babies had been eaten by the other fish so I didnt move them. I am in the process of getting another tank set up for them. Fins havent recovered yet but sometimes I think he is doing better and the improtant thing is that he is still eating. That is huge in my eyes and if Im wrong let me know but I think since he is still eating that is a very good sign. | |

| If he is eating thats deff a plus. Might want to look at some treatment for his wounds so he gets back to normal faster. Convicts will defend there babies till the death. | |

| His body looks good its his tail fin and top fin that are bad. I would assume thats the reason for his odd swimming position and lying on his side. The female never leaves his side and protects him so our other fish dont kick him while he's down. | |

| You may want to dose with an anti fungal med or something along those lines |

| I already have one. Just letting the filter run for a day or two. It has some nice caves set up in it for them. They will be happy in it. I also have some pregnant guppies. How long does it take for them to give birth? I just notice they were pregnant today. | |

| 20-25 days ...give or take a few. Nice score on the guppies and the convicts. How many fish tanks do you have? | |

| Two. Have the one with the guppies. There are a couple blue mystery snails and some african dwarf frogs in with them. Then I have my big tank. 135 gallon with fish that shouldnt live together but they seem to not be killing eachother for the time being. | |

| I am going to keep them all. When they get bigger and stop getting along I will need to get another tank so I can put half in that one so there is enough room for each fish to have their own territory. I have had all of them sice they were babies and each one has its own personality. My oscar jumps up to take food out of my hand. | |
