I hear of some of you talking about flushing fry from the mouthbrooder fishys. I personally have never done this and know as I continue breeding cichlids, I must learn how and when to do this procedure. I would like any of you that have mastered this activity to kinda shed a little light on this, as I know there are many other hobbyist that would like to know this also.
Also, I came across this on cichlidslovers.com called a MOUTHBROODER FLUSHER ! Anyone using this or do you prefer something other?

That rod might damage them. Just get a Q-Tip and push the lower jaw down and the babies come pouring out.

I know most do use a syringe, but it seems kinda neat having that angle and ease of shooting the water...

I think it is easier to hold the female in a little tub of water and use a q-tip to gently pull her bottom lip down. The fry will come out of her mouth. I have even done it with Cyps who have a very fragile mouth with no porblems.

i perfer the q-tip/toothpick to open the mouth and then dunk the females head in a tub of water and repeat dunking till all fry are out.

I guess because my females are so small. . . but it take me forever to strip them. I do the "dunking" method, but it seems like a few fry always stay stuck at the back of their throats. The dental syringe looks so much easier to me and just as safe if not safer. At least that way I won't have to take them out of the water. :)

A fish is never too small to strip. Even the little shellies can be flushed:

I promise you those flushers are 10 times easier and faster than any other method out there. I've tried them all.
