| Usual reason is TP&W thinks they might survive our winters. We have power plant lakes that don't get nearly as cold as lakes without them. Non-natives will out compete native species when they do get a foothold, no natural predators, high reproductive rates, year round spawnig... Never let ANY torpical fish lose into the wild. | |

| if only the US public would be open to eating snakeheads and buffalo carp fish them out of the water to thin out the population. Asians eat them all the time. pretty sustainable obviously... and if they were overfished? gee, darn, shucks. LOL perhaps the US should export these fish BACK to the asian markets as a way to control the populations?
btw I'm not being zenophobic. I'm asian. My mom in her diva self tried to order snakefish at a chinese retaurant(as she would in China) but we all had to remind her that things aren't as available in the US as they are in China.
