Home made Live rock

Has anyone out there experiemented with any of the home made live rock mixtures that are out on the market. I am setting up a reef tank and thinking aobut giving some of these a try. Figured I would set up my reef with the home made stuff and seed it with some small pieces rom an already established reef tank. Just wondering if any of you had any thoughts.

sorry last diy rock i had caused major issues for me, i then went on a fourm and found someone selling off his live rock fro 1.50 a lb, it was all fiji (no DIY rock), i am always on the lookout for more live rock but the current going rate seems to be 2.50 to 3.50 a lb on various forums.

try looking on youtube.....seen them make it up but never tried
