| I picked this thing up at a steal. I put water from my frag tank in here, so I can add coral quickly. It fits perfect of my bookshelf in the home office. Came with: 3.lbs live rock 5.lbs crushed coral (cycled) coralife 60watt PC fixture 10k day bulb 10k 50/50 bulb red sea filter aquaclear filter (modded) 2 ballast for modding another light fixture and a ocean free surface skimmer (didn't work, oh well) | |

| I put the PC light that came with it on the bottom of the shelf above it. I think the PC's will be good enough for softies.

| That is what I want for my first SW tank. I have heard that smaller ones are harder to care for then larger ones. Is there any truth to that? | |

| The small ones are actually easier. But if something goes wrong, you'll lose everything with such a small volume of water. I have a 75 FOWLR, 24 nano reef, 40 frag and this new 2 gallon. I've always kept it simple and cheap, and never had problems that has cost me a big lost. Do your homework or just post a question in the saltwater forum. Lots of salty guy here to guide you through homie. | |

People say the little ones are harder cuz the water can change quicker than with a bigger one. You just have to keep an eye on it.

My first SW tank was an eclipse12 all you need to start an 18 gal. tank is: no filter since it has a 3 stage filtration system built in(I would add Chaeto to it) 9 cups of instant ocean (50 gallon bag $15) use half cup per gallon Nano Protein Skimmer (optional $20) BUT, I would recommend it 3.lbs crushed coral (10.lb aragonite reef sand $9) 5-6.lbs of cured live rock ( $2-$2.50 a .lb on craigslist) change the bulb to a 9watt 10k or 50/50 ($10-$12) make sure it says coralifesmall cleaning crew (3-4 Scarlet Hermit Crabs, 4-5 Margarita Snails and a cleaner shrimp $30) BUT, these should be bought after your tank has cycled for 2 weeks. You could start it right now for under $50

| the reason smaller tanks are harder is because they are less forgiving wtih the small volume of water, now if you dont intend to keep any fish in it i dont see any reason why it would not be easier. |

| I think I'm gonna get a Royal Gramma or a Springer's Dottyback. I don't think either gets over 2.5 inches. Plus both are ok with corals. | |

I don't have a top on this tank and firefish are jumpers.

A fish store down here has a 6 foot Nurse Shark in their store. It's pretty cool.
