freshwater stingrays

does anyone keep freshwater rays?

it would be nice to see some motoros

I do not but If you hear anything let me know. I think that would be really nice in my tank!

You tank has to be big and very little rock. You have to gave sand substraight. That what I've heard.

I kept some freshwater rays some years back. Very neat fish to say the least. I do miss those guys.....

Yeah they are saltwater but in freshwater they supposedly produce a ton of waste.I may have to make a road trip to cajun country and get me one.

Yeah, lol! I find it hard to believe as well cause I just saw a freshwater ray at a lfs about a month ago... You would think they would know about this law? Who knows!!!!

I just saw some in El Paso TX a few days ago!

ummm i too have seen them for sale at fish gallery. I wouldnt think they would be illegal if you can buy them in the store.

you can keep freshwater rays in tx i have owned 3 of them and the fish store has down the road from me sells them

yea im sure cause they were in the same tank with some freshwater ells that i bought i wanna get one but there anywhere from 100 up to 2500 that i have seen.

Fish Ranch had some. They cost just as much as a saltwater stingray.
I they were like $150, but they were 12" long.

u can go to walmart and get a "Butterfly Loache"
haha its a loache that looks like a baby sting ray except they suck on tha glass n stuff!!! it had me fooled until i read the lil sticker explaining the name
and price!!! cost about 4 bucks and sum change!!! lol

Just to let everyone know. There is a guy in Boutte, Louisiana that carries fresh water stingrays. I know a guy who recently set 100 gallon shallow cube tank for a group of stingray... Not sure what he is doing now, but he definitely carries them.
